Heavy-Duty Steel Grating Solutions for Industrial Platforms, Walkways and Infrastructure Projects
Steel grating is composed of bearing flat bars and cross bars, which are arranged orthogonally at fixed intervals and connected through welding or press-locking techniques. This open-grid structure combines both strength and flexibility, making it ideal for applications that require high safety and performance standards. Its robust design has made steel grating the preferred choice for various industries, including construction, mining, and manufacturing, where reliability and durability are essential. Trusted for its exceptional quality, steel grating is a go-to material for demanding environments and critical infrastructure.
Types Of Steel Grating
Welded Steel Grating
Our Type "W" Welded Steel Gratings are made by forge welding rectangular bearing bars to drawn cross bars, creating a strong, fused connection that ensures long-lasting performance, even in the toughest environments.
The 19-W-4 spacing is our most popular choice and is ideal for a wide range of industrial flooring applications. Offering nearly 80% open area, it allows dirt, debris, snow, and liquids to pass through easily, making it essentially self-cleaning.
For public spaces, we offer ADA-compliant spacings such as 11-W-4 and 7-W-4. These gratings are designed to meet accessibility standards. When selecting 11-W-4 for ADA applications, it's important to specify bearing bars that are 3/16” thick to ensure compliance.
Swage Locked Steel Grating
Type "SL" Steel Gratings are produced by inserting hollow tube cross bars into pre-punched holes in the bearing bars. These cross bars are then hydraulically compressed, creating a strong mechanical connection. The recessed cross bars sit below the surface of the bearing bars, giving the grating a sleek and uniform architectural look.
The swage locking process is particularly effective for producing ADA-compliant gratings. For example, the 7-SL-4 type, featuring 3/16" thick bearing bars, creates a 1/4" clear opening between the bars. This narrow spacing is ideal for public spaces where pedestrian traffic includes high heels, and efficient drainage is required.
Dovetail Pressure Locked Steel Grating
Type "DT" Steel Gratings feature deep rectangular cross bars and are created by inserting pre-punched bearing and cross bars into an "egg-crate" pattern. The cross bars are then deformed under high hydraulic pressure to form a strong, secure connection.
The distinctive deep cross bars make Type "DT" gratings especially popular for architectural applications, such as sunshades and infill panels. The deeper bars not only enhance the grating’s strength but also add a unique architectural accent to any design.

Banding Types
Standard Trim Banding The band bar matches the exact height and thickness of the bearing bars, creating a consistent, flush finish on all sides of the panel. This is the most common choice for general applications.
Trench Banding
The band bar is intentionally shorter than the bearing bars, sitting slightly above the bottom edge. This design improves drainage by preventing liquid from pooling between the grating and support structures — ideal for drainage trenches, gullies, and wet areas.
Banding is a practical and popular finishing option that adds both strength and a clean, professional look to your steel grating panels. It involves welding a flat metal bar along the open ends of the grating, creating a framed edge that significantly improves lateral stiffness and protects the cut ends.
Why Choose Banding?
We recommend banding for the following situations:
Removable Panels: Provides extra safety for workers when lifting or moving panels.
Vehicular Traffic Areas: Helps distribute impact loads, reduces deformation, and extends the service life under repeated vehicle traffic.
Architectural & Visible Installations: Delivers a neat, uniform appearance suitable for commercial and public projects.
Heavy Duty Steel Grating
Designed for high-load applications, it features thicker bearing bars and higher strength. Commonly used in ports, airports, highways, and heavy industrial areas where strong impact and heavy traffic are involved.
Standard Steel Grating
Used for general-purpose applications with moderate load capacity. It is widely applied in walkways, platforms, drainage covers, and industrial flooring, offering a balance of strength, cost, and practicality.

OEM/neutral packing (for distributors)
Saddle Clips
Bent clips bridging two bearing bars are available in galvanized steel, stainless steel, or aluminum. Standard bolt holes are 5/16″. Bolts, screws, or other connecting hardware shall be supplied by others.
Countersunk Lands
The narrow spacing of close mesh grating allows for countersinking or milling of the bearing bars to support bolt shoulders. Flat head screws or self-drilling fasteners shall be supplied by others.
Weld Lugs
Plates, punched with holes and welded between the bearing bars, facilitate bolting to the supporting structure. Bolts, screws, or other connecting hardware shall be supplied by others.
“G” Clips
Mechanical fasteners installed from the top surface of the grating create a friction connection with the flange supporting the panel. “G” clips are easily installed without drilling or welding.
